How to grade a conversation?

You want the students to be able to articulate what they know on the subject in a scholary way. You don't want the conversation to get to personal subject otherwise the students will move off of topic and start to conversate about irrelevent subjects. Being aware of the audience that you speaking to help for them to understand or relate certain situation with them to gain a higher understanding or grasp of the subject. The point the author make about diction helps to uplift the level of the conversation. In a academic conversation the word selection should be of a higher quality than the quality you use in a conversation with your friends. So to grade a conversation you have to pay attention to how the person approach the topiv and how they express there viewpoints in a educated way.
