How to grade a conversation?
OH MY GOODNESS! This particular article was a painful read. The author does give good advice on how to grade a conversation. You want the students to be able to articulate what they know on the subject in a scholary way. You don't want the conversation to get to personal subject otherwise the students will move off of topic and start to conversate about irrelevent subjects. Being aware of the audience that you speaking to help for them to understand or relate certain situation with them to gain a higher understanding or grasp of the subject. The point the author make about diction helps to uplift the level of the conversation. In a academic conversation the word selection should be of a higher quality than the quality you use in a conversation with your friends. So to grade a conversation you have to pay attention to how the person approach the topiv and how they express there viewpoints in a educated way.

Reaction Post Katrina
I feel that what happen in New Orleans was a terrible situation. But along as they move on to fix the city than its a problem they can be fix. New Orleans is on its way to be reastablished to its self. As long as another hurricane dont hit they should be find until they finishing building the levees. To me the first walls they built don't even need to be called more then walls because it couldn't probably hold a level 1 back. New Orleans is searching for there answer to they problems because they still a long way off from being fixed. I really don't care who fault it is that the city was destroyed. I care about how they going to fix itand what they doing to bring the citzens back. But my greatest feeling is that if this ever happen to any other city or even to this one again they be prepared to react the situation. When this kind of tregedy happen protocal should be disminish for a short time just to help people.
Reflection blog Katrina
What if New Orleans Never Recover from This Terrible Situation.
If New Orleans never recover from this it is the death of one of the nation oldest and most cultural diverse cities. New Orleans is one of our nation proudest cities because of there many roots from indians, slaves, to the french they are a city that can't be replace. From the home of the blues to the mardi gras fesival New Orleans is a city that we pride ourselves upon. Even with its many flaws it can't be copied or replicated the spirit is just one of it own. It's our jobs as americans to help out our fellow americans in there time of need because I know I would want hlp in mine.
There are many promblems that is hindering the city from returning to itself or even bettering it. Lack of funds for projects such as for clean up and demolition. The spreading out of the New Orleans citizens all across america. Until we figure out these problems and the many more New Orleans going to be a shell of itself. So to make sure we can save and improve this city we need to take a look as ourselves as a country and start the rebuilding right there.

Comic Memoirs
Summary:
The reading persopolis was graphic memoir about the life of a girl growing up under a dictatorship. It is very interesting compared to the other memoirs we read already. This one seems more interesting than the others. It is drawn out showing what the other is doing and what she is saying during many different panels from when she wanted to be a prophet until she wanted to go and demonstrate with her parents. The second reading was not as interesting as the first but it's talks about how graphic novels are growing as a new litery form. She goes more indebt about a new york article that focus on the men and only mention women in passing. She go on an talks how women and men have made works equallly in "graphic narrative".
Reaction:
My reaction is that the persopolis story was the most interesting reading so far. It probably because I am a very visual person and that I love to read almost anykind of graphic novel. How the author thought she was a prophet and that she was talking to god was very funny to me. But, inbetween those jokes the author put some serious subjects such as the people getting burn inside the movie theatre. The second reading was seriosly boring and was putting me on the verge of sleep several times.
Questions:
Why use illustration with your story when you can just write it out?
What country was the author writing about?
In the second story, why don't the author give evidence to the claim that graphic novels is not a man's world.

7/2 Overview
Overview:
Thin coe memoirs of all the stories one thing in common to preserve there memories of that certain moment for anybody to relive. From the story of the girl sister who is pregnant to a war veteran writing about his time in combat they are written to enlighten readers into there thought and there feelings at that moment in time. The veteran talks about how memoirs of other veterans are becoming sparse as he pointed out in the comic strip from the newspaper he read publishers are saying that memoirs of wars already been written by somebody else of that war.The veteran talks about all the different things he did in the war to give the reader a view of something they wouldn't have lived in there life through the veterans memories of the moments in which he shares with the reader. The memoirs about the girl who sister got pregnant focuses the sister who being ignored anger because you feel it in her words. That also she is getting alot off her chest that she can't say aloud to her family who is enthralled in there sister pregnancy. So she getting the feeling out that she couldn't get out in any other way that us as readers can sympathize with.
Reaction:
I like the memoirs that i have read in this week reading exercises. The one about the veteran was very entertaining from how he talk about how he was a musician in the band to how he was a part of a heavy infantry that played a part in many major battles. He also talks about memoirs and how you have to fuse together history and novelist to have a good memoir that is interesting. The memoir about the two sisters was also interesting from the colorful dialogue to the inside of what she was saying compared to what she actually said. I felt for the sister who was getting ignored but also thought the brother was a geniuse how he use there parents infactuation with the pregnant sister to slip undected.
Questions:
What happen at the end of the story when the girl goes back to louisianna to talk to the kids?
How good was the veteran at playing his instrument and what was the instrument?
Why did the baby at the end of the story about the pregnancy brighten the girl life so much?

Summarizing Enc 101???
Summary:
The blog about memoir writing and the listening exercise are both about self reflection on their lives. In the memoir blog the writer starts off about how he was trying to understand how his own mind work by reading Freud and taking psychology in his first year of college. He finally figure out how to make sense of his own mind by reviewing who he is by writing memoirs. He goes on to explain how different authors prove that memoirs help to reveal certain moments in our lifes more clearly.Antoinette and Iriel talk about there experiences about what happen to them during hurricane katrina. The two speakers make sense of their situation during katrina by telling or reviewing the events that happen to them during the hurricane. They go on to explain how there lives was change by these certain events, how the their families are important to them, and how the things they take for granted are precious to them.
Reaction:
I felt that both of the stories have a valid point to them. That writing our stories of our lives in memoirs help to unlock secrets thet we do not know that we had. Also, that writing about are stories help to soothe us. The story of the katrina victims struck home with me because my cousin was living up in New Orleans when the hurricane hit so I get the point of view that they are coming from.
Questions:
What makes Jerry Wexler want to unlock his own mind from such a young age?
Why did he went through 15 years years of therapy?
What would Antoinette and Iriel tell other hurricane victims to help them through the hard times?
